Description

REF 03

The RA-17C is a 25-slot conductive polypropylene rack built for thicker PCBs, up to 2.4 mm (heavy-copper, multilayer, or populated assemblies). Each slot is 3 mm wide with a 7.5 mm depth, nearly twice the depth of a shallow-slot rack, and 16 mm pitch.

That extra depth matters when boards are populated or heavy: they stay put during transport between stations, no tipping, no walking out of the slot mid-handoff. Boards span the 160 mm rack width and can overhang on both sides, so panels wider than the rack body are fully supported.

The conductive PP material maintains system resistance of 10⁴–10⁶ Ω, keeping boards in the conductive range from SMT placement through final inspection. The deep-slot pick when one rack needs to handle both standard 1.6 mm and heavier 2.4 mm boards on the same line.

What does “deep slot” actually buy me vs. a standard slot?
The RA-17C slot is 7.5 mm deep, almost twice the 4 mm depth of a shallow-slot rack like the RA-16C. That extra depth matters when boards are populated, heavy-copper, or thicker than 1.6 mm: gravity and component mass try to walk the board out of the slot during transport. The deeper engagement holds it in. Pick the RA-17C any time you’re moving boards that aren’t bare and standard.
Will the RA-17C fit my SMT loader / unloader?
The RA-17C is a bench-side rack, not an in-line magazine rack, it’s designed for manual handling, storage, and inspection at the workstation. For in-line SMT loader / unloader compatibility, look at the Gear Adjustment or Belt Adjustment magazine racks (B0103 / B0106 / B0108 / B0109 chassis with 563 mm height + 10 mm slot pitch).
Can I bake the RA-17C? What's the temperature ceiling?
No. Conductive polypropylene tops out at +80 °C, well below typical bake or cure profiles. For bake-suitable racks (J-STD-033 moisture removal at 90–125 °C, conformal-coat post-cure), use the magazine-rack Gear 200 °C variants. For 300 °C aerospace cure, see the High Temperature series.
Will my 1.6 mm standard boards still fit in this rack?
Yes, the 3 mm slot easily accepts standard 1.6 mm boards with clearance to spare. The RA-17C is the right pick when your line runs both standard and thick boards on the same rack inventory. If your line ONLY runs standard 1.6 mm boards and you don’t need the extra depth, the RA-16C has a tighter slot (2 mm wide × 4 mm deep) for tighter board retention at lower cost.
Is the RA-17C ESD-safe for our EPA workstation?
Yes. System resistance is 10⁴–10⁶ Ω, which lands in the conductive band per ESD Association standards. Suitable for boards staged on EPA-controlled workstations between SMT, hand soldering, AOI, and final inspection.
