Operator Fatigue Compounds Across a Floor of Loaded Racks.

B0105GPN-80C loaded with boards

Metal-base magazine racks add weight that compounds across every cart trip, every shelf load, every line transfer. The B0105GPN swaps the galvanized-steel base for a conductive PS base, same 50-slot capacity, same gear-track adjustment, same ESD spec, but 1.5 kg lighter per rack. Multiply by 50 racks on a floor and the labor delta is real.

What “all-plastic” actually changes

The B0105GPN-80C is a 50-slot ESD magazine rack with all-plastic construction. The chassis swaps the galvanized-steel base of the B0103 family for a Conductive PS (polystyrene) base, while keeping the same 5 × Conductive PPE side panels and aluminum pillars. Result: same 50-slot capacity, same gear-track mechanism, same 50–250 mm width range, 1.5 kg lighter per rack.

Why it matters: across a production floor with 30–50 racks moving daily between stations, 1.5 kg per rack is a meaningful operator-fatigue savings. The all-plastic chassis is also the right pick when your environment requires a non-metallic chassis (cleanroom, high-RF, or specific contamination protocols), and when minimum-weight per loaded transport matters (cart capacity, shelf load).

The plastic base preserves the conductive 10⁴–10⁶ Ω band across the entire current path, same NASTC ESD report and SGS RoHS certificate as the metal-base B0103 family. Standard 80 °C envelope; for bake-suitability on the same all-plastic chassis, use the B0105GPM-120C. For higher temperatures, switch to a metal-base sibling on the B0103 chassis.

Standards referenced

IPC/JEDEC J-STD-033
The moisture-sensitive-device handling standard. It sets the bake profiles (typically 90–125 °C) used to drive moisture out of MSD boards before reflow, which is why a rack's temperature rating decides whether boards can stay in it through the bake.
ANSI/ESD S541
The ESD Association standard for packaging materials in an EPA. It classifies surface resistance into conductive (below 10⁴ Ω), dissipative (10⁴ to below 10¹¹ Ω) and insulative bands. Our measured 10⁴–10⁶ Ω sits in the dissipative band, the range specified for board handling.
RoHS (EU) 2015/863
The EU restriction on hazardous substances in electrical equipment: lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, PBB, PBDE and four phthalates. All 20 components of this product were tested and passed (SGS report NGBEC25007648601).

Questions engineers ask

Why pick all-plastic instead of metal-base?
Three reasons. (1) Weight: 4.8 kg vs 6.3 kg per rack. Across 30–50 racks moving daily on a floor, that compounds to real operator-fatigue savings and lighter cart loads. (2) Non-metallic chassis: cleanroom, high-RF, or specific contamination protocols sometimes require no exposed metal in the current path. The B0105GPN’s Conductive PS base satisfies that requirement. (3) Cost: the all-plastic chassis is a touch lower cost than the equivalent metal-base B0103GN. Trade-off: slightly less rigid than the galvanized-steel base, pick metal if you stack heavy loads on top of loaded racks.
Why is the temperature range −10 °C instead of −20 °C?
The Conductive PS base’s low-temperature qualification reaches −20 °C, same as the metal-base racks, vs −20 °C for the galvanized-steel-base B0103 family. For most factory floors this is irrelevant (production environments rarely drop below 10 °C indoors), but if your shipping or staging environment regularly hits below −10 °C, switch to the metal-base B0103GN-80C.
Will the B0105GPN-80C drop into my SMT loader / unloader?
Yes. The 563 mm chassis height and 10 mm slot pitch match the standard interface for ASM SIPLACE, Yamaha YSM, Panasonic NPM, Juki RS, and most other in-line SMT loader / unloader equipment. The 355 × 320 mm footprint is identical to the B0103 / B0104 family. The all-plastic base does not change the loader interface, the loader picks boards from the same standard slot positions.
Can I bake the B0105GPN-80C? What’s the temperature ceiling?
The GPN-80C variant is rated −20 °C to +80 °C. For low-temperature MSD bake on the same all-plastic chassis, pick the B0105GPM-120C (120 °C), suitable for 90–110 °C moisture-removal profiles. For full IPC/JEDEC J-STD-033 bake (up to 125 °C), use the metal-base B0103GM-200C (200 °C) instead. The all-plastic chassis does not currently have a 200 °C variant.
Can I replace a damaged side panel without buying a whole new rack?
Yes. The side panels are made of 5 interchangeable Conductive PPE sections per wall, each individually replaceable, same as the metal-base mag racks. Rack spares are sold separately for every magazine-rack chassis we’ve ever shipped, on a ~1-week lead.
