Narrow Flex Circuits Don’t Fit Gear-Track Racks.

REF 01

Gear-track racks bottom out at **50 mm board width**. Anything narrower, flex circuits, small daughter cards, narrow panels, needs a different rack or an awkward workaround. The belt-adjustable B0103GC BELT-80C drops to **10 mm minimum width**, covering 5× the lower range. Narrow and full-size boards run on the same rack inventory.

Description

How belt adjustment works on your line

The B0103GC BELT-80C is a 50-slot ESD magazine rack with continuous belt-driven width adjustment. A hand-driven belt rotates pulleys at the top and bottom of the chassis, turning two captive lead screws in unison, both side panels travel toward or away from each other on the same revolution. The adjustment is continuous (no stepped clicks, no fixed indices), so any board width from 10 mm to 250 mm is reachable.

Construction: 2 interchangeable Conductive PS side panels, aluminum pillars, galvanized steel base, and 2 H-type stopper plates (vs. the single stopper bar on gear-track variants). The slot is 5 mm wide × 4 mm deep, deeper than the gear-track 3.5 mm slot, for tighter board retention through inline conveyor handling. Surface resistance stays in the conductive 10⁴–10⁶ Ω band per ESD Association classification.

Designed for the standard 80 °C ambient envelope. For bake or cure cycles, the chassis family also includes the B0103GN-80C / GM-200C gear-track variants and the GL HT-300C all-aluminum sibling.

Questions engineers ask

REF 12
Belt vs. gear-track adjustment, which one do I pick?
Pick **belt** (this rack) when board widths vary across the full range, **10 mm flex circuits and 250 mm panels run on the same rack**. The continuous adjustment hits any width without an indexing limit. Pick [gear-track (GN-80C)](pcb-b0103gn-80c-shop-standalone-rev2.html) when board widths are standardized above 50 mm and you want indexed positions for repeatable setups. Trade-off: gear is slightly cheaper and lighter; belt covers the wider range and the narrow-flex use case.
Why is the slot 4 mm deep instead of 3.5 mm?
The deeper slot, 5 mm wide × **4 mm deep** vs. 3.5 mm on gear-track variants, gives narrow flex circuits and small-format boards more retention surface during inline conveyor handling. Narrow boards have less mass, so they’re more vulnerable to walking out of a shallow slot during transport vibration. The extra 0.5 mm of slot depth keeps them seated.
Will the B0103GC BELT-80C drop into my SMT loader / unloader?
Yes. The 563 mm chassis height and 10 mm slot pitch match the standard interface for ASM SIPLACE, Yamaha YSM, Panasonic NPM, Juki RS, and most other in-line SMT loader / unloader equipment. The 355 × 320 mm footprint is identical to the B0103GN-80C, B0103GM-200C, and B0103GL HT-300C variants. The narrow-board capability does not change the loader interface, the loader still picks boards from the standard slot positions.
What are the H-type stopper plates, why two instead of a stopper bar?
Standard gear-track racks use a single stopper bar across the rear of the rack. The belt-adjustable B0103GC uses **two H-shaped stopper plates** instead, positioned to clear the belt and lead-screw assembly that runs across the rack interior. Function is identical (prevents boards from sliding through during transport); the H-shape just routes around the belt mechanism without interfering.
Can I bake the B0103GC BELT-80C? What’s the temperature ceiling?
The GC BELT-80C variant is rated −20 °C to +80 °C, the standard SMT envelope. The belt mechanism is not currently qualified for higher temperatures. For **bake-suitable** use, switch to the gear-track [B0103GM-200C (200 °C)](pcb-b0103gm-200c-shop-standalone-rev2.html). For **aerospace-grade 300 °C cure**, use the [B0103GL HT-300C all-aluminum](pcb-b0103gl-ht-300c-shop-standalone.html) variant.
